About the Founder
Meet Maria – A Life Steeped in Culinary Passion
My love for the culinary world started when I was young. Having been raised in a large Greek family, I was spoiled with amazing, mouthwatering meals and a wonderful family to share it with.
Upon graduating from Vanderbilt University, I pursued my love for the culinary arts by attending the Culinary Institute of America in Greystone, California. I began as Pastry Cook at Emporio Ruli’s, quickly advanced as sous chef Postrio and then quickly advanced as the Executive Pastry Chef at Town Hall in San Francisco. I absolutely fell in love with the creativity of food, discovering the highest quality ingredients from around the world, and the excitement of sharing your creation with others. The energy and rush of the restaurant world was fascinating, but I felt another challenge tugging at me, wanting to master the skill of wedding cakes. I started making a few cakes for family and friends which quickly became into a full time career launching Maria Cakes. Creating specialty cakes was a blast!
Fast forward to 2022, relocating to beautiful northern Florida, I am so excited for my new adventure of Drosia Coffee, as owning a cafe has always been a dream of mine and I am so excited to share it with you.
